“We can let the circumstances of our lives harden us so that we become increasingly resentful and afraid, or we can let them soften us and make us kinder and more open to what scares us. We always have this choice.”
—Pema Chodron
My therapeutic focus is on heart-centered mindfulness. It is through our connection to ourselves–even the parts of ourselves that seem most troubling–that we may experience the grounding and expansiveness necessary to draw comfort from within and ultimately make the shifts we most desire. This connection to Self lies at an intersection of eastern and western perspectives in psychology. It’s at the essence of lasting change. In coming to know ourselves deeply, we are able to access a well of capacities that can in turn begin to alleviate our suffering.
I assist clients in their journey of self-discovery, helping them to develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves and more acceptance for their own experiencing.
I came to psychotherapy as a second career. My own journey has involved spiritual work in both Buddhist and Sufi communities. I became certified as a Kundalini yoga teacher in 2009. Prior to my work as a therapist, I have worked as a teacher, writer and activist.
My goal is to help clients find greater compassion and flexibility in how they experience themselves so they may become more loving, open, and authentic in their relationships with others.
Fees/Insurance
I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont and VT Medicaid (Green Mountain Care).
My full fee is $150 for a 60 minute session. Longer sessions can be arranged for an additional charge. I also offer a sliding scale as I recognize that full payment would be prohibitive for many clients.
I established my private practice in 2016. Since then, I’ve developed and led workshops in Heart-Centered Mindfulness, developed educational modules utilizing “parts work” for performance enhancement, and designed therapeutic writing groups for clinicians and lay people. I’ve worked in corporate consulting as well as coaching individuals. I’m currently leading the Writing Beneath the Surface groups I developed in 2020. Writing Beneath the Surface offers a creative entry into “Parts Work”, allowing for deep, long lasting internal shifts that have proven life changing for many.
